How to build your kid's self-esteem
Apr 04, 2024"I’ve been noticing my 7-year-old really talking down about themselves. I try not to correct them because I know they want to be heard, but how can I help build their self-esteem?"
In this video, we share strategies to nurture your kids' self-esteem.
We discuss how we need to first validate their feelings while promoting a growth mindset that encourages effort and perseverance.
From specific praise to modeling confidence and resilience, we share our practical tips that’ll help your child develop a more positive self-image like engaging in confidence-boosting activities and the importance of celebrating small wins to promote self-efficacy.
From our parenting toolkit:
This week we focused on encouraging a growth mindset.
One of the best ways to boost our kids' confidence and show them that they can grow their skills and abilities is to provide them with the just-right challenge.
We love using books to teach skills, reinforce topics, and to foster connection with our kids, and if you’ve been following us for some time, you’ve probably noticed a post or two about the book Animals, ABCs and… Me: an alphabetical affirmation book by Jessica Buchman.
Her book is beautifully illustrated with her very own watercolor paintings of animals. Each painting is accompanied by an affirmation that serves as an uplifting mantra you and your kiddos can use daily to inspire and boost self-confidence!
We know it will be a wonderful addition to your home (or school) libraries!
You can find it here along with our other book suggestions for your littles.
